(I’ve recently moved to London but wore this to an American based convention).
I made this costume for MegaCon 2012. 90% of the costume was all new techniques for me. What I thought would only take about 2 solid weeks of work to complete ended up taking 1-2 months! I learned how to gradient dye and paint, I learned how to quilt (stretch fabrics). I learned the importance of using boning and the importance of undergarment construction. The “petals” of the dress proved to be one of the most difficult parts of this entire costume, as did the quilted piece on the top of the dress.
Once I finished this costume I was very happy with the results and very proud of myself for making such a challenging piece =)
