Comments: Utena has been my favorite anime since the first time I saw it in the year 2000. No other story has captured the depth of its beautiful and metaphorical imagery, nor has any expanded my mind or touched my heart as deeply. This year, I was thrilled to return after a yearlong hiatus to cosplay by choosing to make costumes from Utena with my gorgeous fiance by my side.
I made Anthy’s gown from scratch out a mixture of suiting and bridal satin fabrics. The center front and back panels are fully lined and the side front and back seams are all boned with steel for structure. It’s a lovely gown.
