Cosplayer: Torihime
Character Name: Kagamine Rin (Rilliane in the novels)
Series Name: Vocaloid ~ “Aku no Musume”
Comments: I made this whole cosplay myself from scratch. I designed the ballgown and sewed it on a 1957 Singer 319W machine (she’s my baby ♥). The skirt has two layers: the black “underskirt” and the gold ruched “overskirt”. For décor, I added the black edging and roses to the overskirt, as well as black lace to the edge of the underskirt. On the hips sit two bows, gold on the “good” side and black on the “bad” side for contrast. Each of these are decorated with four roses; one gold and three black each, two strands of black pearls that hang in front from one bow to the other, and a light lace bustle on the back of the skirt. The top corset also has black lace along the bottom, as well as along the princess seams to match the front of the skirt. a gold rose takes center stage on the chest, with off-the-shoulder black “sleeves”. My choker also sports a gold rose, adorned with sparkling beads and a rhinestone clasp in the back. The wig is borrowed from my Karakuri Burst cosplay and I’ve placed black marabou feathers and a gold rose clip near the bun. I plan on adding detachable sleeves to this cosplay for chillier months, and for the warmer months, the black gloves and bracelets will stay. I know they’re not too visible, but I also made my earrings. This cosplay made its debut Saturday and Sunday of Otakon 2012 and was not entered in the Hall Cosplay Contest.
