Cosplayer: Naomi Gors
Character Name: Dark Magician Girl
Series Name: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Comments: materials used: EVA foam (which made the base of the belt, collar, shoes and hat), Resin (jewels were custom cast in molds i made myself), fibreglass (used on the collar and belt to make these areas rigid and self-supporting), expanding foam (for the wand – handcarved, sealed and painted) and then just various other obvious materials like fabric/glues/trimmings etc. The torso part of this cosplay was a corset-like structure, it was made from a custom pattern to fit my proportions exactly (it was extremely tight). I used thick boning so i could create the smaller-waist shape i wanted while also having enough support to hold up the fibreglassed collar – meaning i could wear the cosplay accurately and strapless. The rest of the foam pieces i covered in the same blue fabric i used on the torso – using contact adhesive, so as to make sure i had the same uniform colour and texture throughout the whole cosplay. The belt i just covered the fibreglass in craft foam (same process as colar except i covered the collar in fabric) sealed and painted with same gold that was on staff and necklace. The Hat stayed on with use of magnets attached to the wig, and a clear strap under the chin. The shoes were custom made by using the soles from knock-off cheap ankle height shoes and covering them with a whole new upper-shoe so as to make sure it is as close to accurate.
