A Little About Me

Helloo! My name’s Justke! Thank you for taking the time to check out my entry!! The amount of support I’ve received so far really warms my heart, so I appreciate all that everyone has done to help me make it into the finals. I’ve been a PNW cosplayer since 2007, but I hope to someday check out more conventions in the US, as well as other countries too. :D

My favorite series are Natsume Yuujinchou, CardCaptor Sakura, Inazuma Eleven, Gintama, and Mushishi. I really like cats. I always strive for cosplaying the series and characters I love, so simple as they may be now, I’m very happy that I picked these ones and hope you enjoy looking through them! Feel free to check out more of my cosplays. Have a nice day.

Cosplay 1

Character: Asahina Mikuru

Series: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Description: Mikuru was one of those characters that I was too shy to cosplay, but always thought would be really fun to do with friends – especially since the anime is crazy and energetic (the opposite of me haha). The full costume was made by myself, using kona cotton for the sailor collar and skirt, and a jersey knit for the sweater. The wig was somewhat of a hassle as I had to both dunk-dye and mist-dye it using a mixture of red and orange sharpies. It took about two tries to get the ratio right, and a lot of rubbing alcohol to get the dye off my hands in time for the con hahaha.

Cosplay 2

Character: Princess Sakura

Series: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle

Description: Definitely my most expensive cosplay to date. I ended up using about 7yds of heavy bridal satin for the bodice and separate skirt, which was priced at $15/yd. Even with coupons, it was a critical hit to my wallet. Still, it’s definitely my favorite costume. :) ♥ The cape was made of a much lighter satin, as well as the trim around the shoulders. The gold accessories were made by my good friend Bubydub out of model magic and hot glue. I learned a lot from making this cosplay, as it was my first ballgown dress and the first time dealing with such expensive fabric. It’s really fun to spin around in, though!!

Cosplay 3

Character: Kinomoto Sakura
Series: CardCaptor Sakura

Description: Sakura is a personal hero of mine, which is why this cosplay means a lot to me. Out of all the childhood TV shows I watched, I was probably most avid about collecting CCS merchandise as a kid. The dolls, the cards, as well as the wand (which I never ended up collecting ;__; )… everything just short of being her. I think a large portion of my love for cosplay and sewing stems back to CCS. This costume was a collaborative effort between my cosplay partner Mycinia for our Sakura-Tomoyo-Syaoran trio. She made the skirts, emblems, and the base for the collars while I made the sweaters and attached the bias tapes, cuffs, etc. The sweaters are made out of a heavy knit, while the collars and skirts are made of an interlock solid.
