A Little About Me
I’ve been a geek my whole life and use cosplay as a creative way to become the characters I love and admire. My dream is to become a costume designer for film and television, and I’m currently attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles to get my costume design degree. The best part of bringing my favorite series to life is translating the costumes from a fantasy world to real fabrics and designs, and adding my own personal flair to recognizable outfits. I also like modding or embellishing casualwear with geek references or making replicas of cult favorite costume pieces.
Cosplay 1
Character: Salvaged Confederate Adjutant
Series Name: Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty
|
Description: This is my favorite costume of all time and the one I’m best known for. I won the Blizzcon 2011 costume contest with this, which was a feat of sewing, makeup, and engineering put together. The costume features over 108 individually powered lights, from blinking LEDs to fiber optics to pulsating EL wire. The costume breaks down into ten separate, overlapping pieces and uses mainly trompe l’oeil effects to simulate depth and missing limbs.

Cosplay 2
Character: Emilie LeBlanc
Series Name: League of Legends
|
Description: This is the first group costume I did, with two of my favorite cosplayers I met through my Blizzard experience, Zerina and Aya, for Anime Expo 2012. I chose LeBlanc because I loved her background history and all her story elements that made for killer details in her costume. This was my first time wearing a wig for a costume or making a prop, and I learned a lot about sewing and construction and also prop fabrication. This costume is sixteen individual pieces, and the cloak actually weighs more than the staff!

Cosplay 3
Character: Yin
Series Name: Darker Than Black
|
Description: I put this costume together for Anime Boston 2011 in about two weeks at the same time as a Pandy and Retro "Dead Leaves" team costume. I styled my own hair to match Yin's, and I'm wearing solid red contacts (though you can't see them here). I made the dress and shrug from modified patterns.
